Foxit Reader Installation Tutorial

Buying an ebook reader is very exciting! Finally, you’re going to be able to take your books with you everywhere in a convenient, small device. Before you get started, you do need to pay close attention to what kind of ebook reader you should get. There are different ebook formats out there that are supported by different readers.
Unfortunately, there are some readers that are severely restricted in what formats they will read. The companies that develop the readers often have their own format, which they hope will become the ‘most used.’ If you tend to buy or accumulate ebooks in other formats, you might need to look into a different reader.
The different reader formats include:
Adobe Reader Format (PDF)
If you’ve been on the Internet for any length of time at all, you’ve probably come across ‘PDF’ files. These have become the standard way people pass along or sell information and ebooks. The problem with this file format is it often doesn’t translate well to your reader due to size constraints. Luckily, both popular ebook reader companies, Amazon and Sony, offer ways to convert these files (Amazon’s is more of a ‘beta’ version.)
Mobipocket Format (MOBI)
Another popular format is MOBI. This is more of a standard, and does not limit its own use on devices (though devices can limit it.) MOBI software is a free download on your computer, and is included in the Amazon Kindle. MOBI is not available on Sony readers.
Amazon Kindle Format (AZW)
The Amazon Kindle is an incredible popular device that really set the standard for the others. Amazon is such a leader in this industry that they developed their own reader. This format is not available on other readers, but it works perfectly with the Kindle device if that’s the one you choose to go with. The AZW downloads are priced at $9.99 and under.
Sony Reader Format (LRF)
If you’re going to get a Sony Reader this is the file format you’ll become most familiar with. Sony has closed themselves off to some other formats to funnel the consumer into their store. Take the time to browse through their selection to see if they have the titles you’re interested in as their options are a bit more limited than others.
As you can see, choosing the right ebook reader has lot to do with committing yourself to a favorite file format. As the industry grows it’s likely we’ll see even more standardization in this area. For now, things are a little bit segmented, but you can still find most of the titles you’d want in any of the versions.
Take the time to look through reviews and commentary on the different readers. The chances are good that if people are consistently complaining about file formats on that device, you might want to look into something else. Despite the difficulty of making your decision, you can rest assured that you’re going to get tons of use out of your ebook reader because they are ultra-convenient in any format.
Compare the file formats and the pros and cons of the Kindle vs Sony Reader. These are the two hottest handheld ebook readers available today.

Help answer the question aboutpdf reader
help need pdf reader on my laptop but not on line with it?I have a go book that I use on my race car. I have just got a new program and the directions are in pdf format. my home computer is online and has cd burner. have not been able to burn a usable copy of adobe reader for my go book. suspect my sonic burner program is not capable of this task. any help would be appreaciated. thanks
“e-paper” =/= TFT monitor
your eyes will hurt from too much reading on this thing …
An important thing I never mentioned in this video is that you can do a LOT more than just read books with this netbook.
Yes, when I bought this netbook that was my only intention, but I have since installed several games on it to entertain my children.
You can even make it into a portable movie player, which is great to keep the children from getting bored on a long drive.
My laptop had a glossy screen, while this nice little netbook has a matte screen, which dramatically cuts down on glare. In fact, the sun can wash out the colors in direct light, but I never can see any reflection on it.
Very happy with the purchase.
cons: less readable in the sun (no E-ink)
and uses power to display… e-readers mostly use battery only to switch pages. no energy used to just display (like a conventional book)
after all i think you spend less time waiting pages to load with your netbook.
what’s the program called?? ee rotate?..can i get a link?..i can’t find it..
good idea, I actually made this decision before seeing this video
but you missed an important thing: Eye straining, which is definitely obvious in reading from Pc screens,
but the solution is simple, adjust light to a very faint light & change contrast to be the closest thing to black and white, this will probably make eye straining the least ever
but comparing benefits, e-reader definitely doesn’t worth its price & purpose
thanks for the nice idea
i went for the sony prs 700 it has pdf’s for all my engineering and calculus books and it was only $350 from crutchfield.
i already have a 17 and 13 inch laptop that i turned on their side like you did but it doesn’t compare to e-paper.
Hello moechock….
I put a lot of thinking into to, and I came to the same conclusion.
One of the best things about this model is that the battery lasts a long time. They call it “full day” computing… but it’s a 7 hour battery. I usually get about 6 hours 20 minutes out of it.
I actually put some thinking into it and it’s best if I buy one of these small notebooks I guess than buying a ebook reading device, so I have a question, how long does the battery last?
Safari has a built-in PDF reader, but it's just that – a reader.
Go to Control Panel ->Add or Remove Programs ->Then on the left side of the opened window click on Set Programs Defaults and Access ->Custom and then set it.
OR
Right click on any pdf file.Go to Properties then click change and select or browse Adobe acrobat reader then click ok then apply
Sorry, I don't think there is one. I have this phone, and have tried getting just about every possible type of programs for it, including MS Word lol, but haven't come across a .pdf reader. Ive actually searched this before, and other people say there isn't one available for JM2E (java enabled) phones.
Oh, and the Nokia 6300 WILL read .txt files =)
Remove adobe. Foxit comes up as my default in firefox but I don't have Adobe Reader installed.
Go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. Find your Adobe Reader thing and uninstall it. Open your Program Files folder and delete the folder "Acrobat". Reboot. Connect to the Internet and download the latest Adobe Reader version.
Hope it helps
Steve
I think your phone is S40 based and there arn't any viruses for your phone nor are there any antivirus apps for this reason, if your having probs with the phone then restore it back to factory setting and that should solve the problem. And since your phone is S40 based and supports java apps then as far as i know there arn't any PDF readers that you can download.
You can Foxit reader.
You can find the Sony PRS-500 on Ebay (used) for about $125 usually.
The Sony Reader is VERY nice and great for ebooks. Unfortunately, it's also pretty darn expensive.
A cheaper route would be going with the following:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3224296&Sku=N529-1130
It has a larger screen than most PDAs, half the price of the Sony and also will allow you to download stuff wirelessly from the internet to read.
Enjoy your ebooks!
